Editorial Review for Jack's Firehouse – by James Zeleniak
Review
Celebrity Chef Jack McDavid - best known for his four-year stint on the Food Network's Grillin' and Chillin' - has been cooking up creative American fare for some 20 years. Standouts include super meaty crab cakes, crispy fried calamari, Jack's Barbequed Ribs, house-cured salmon, and superior cuts of beef - sometimes hailing locally from Philly's own W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences. McDaid is also a fan of fresh game, so expect a smattering of hard-to-find fare, i.e. quail and venison. Bourbon rules here with more options than anywhere else in the city, but there's also 18 wines offered by the glass. Recent updates at Jack's has the front of the house, from outdoor tables next to the man-made fountain and waterfall, to bar service and group dining, finding a more polished experience than in the past.

Part of the charm of Philly - great food, great customer service, delicious desserts! We've dined both inside and out - large group or just the two of us - and never been disappointed. Food is always warm, presented well, and promptly. Outdoor fountain adds a charming spot to relax and tune out some of the city noise. Service staff are excellent - if you need ANYTHING they will do their best to provide. Be sure to make reservations to avoid disappointment if seating isn't available. And save room for dessert - they are yummy! :)
Pros: Ambience, service
Cons: A drive from the suburbs

The restaurant is really fun looking and the bar and outside sitting seem like they could be fun but the food was over-cooked and over-priced. I don't really hate it but don't recommend it either.
Pros: The actual place
Cons: The food and price
